EGMF publishes a joint industry Brexit Guide for type-approval rules

EGMF and its partner associations (CECE, CEMA, EUROMOT, EUnited Municipal Equipment, FEM, EUROPGEN) worked together on a joint Industry Guide on the new Regulation (EU) 2019/26 complementing EU type-approval legislation in view of Brexit. This Regulation entered into force on 13 January 2019, allowing manufacturers currently holding an UK type-approval certificate to apply for its transfer to an EU-27 type-approval certificate. The application to the new EU-27 type-approval must be made before the withdrawal date/Brexit but the type-approval itself may be granted after Brexit. The industry Guide is intended to clarify what industry considers as valid and invalid type-approvals at the time of UK’s withdrawal from the EU, and to advise which engine categories have to go through the transfer process (those with valid type approvals) and those which don’t (because of invalid type approvals).
