19 May EGMF supports better cooperation between industry associations and market surveillance authorities
EGMF submitted its feedback to a short questionnaire from DG GROW in the European Commission, aimed at supporting the implementation of Article 9 of Regulation 2019/1020 on market surveillance and compliance.
This article allows joint market surveillance activities to be developed under a specific agreement between market surveillance authorities and organisations representing economic operators. A new Task Force has been set up within DG GROW, to work on the creation of a suitable “template agreement” which should guarantee that the criteria of independence and impartiality of the parties involved are respected in order to avoid unfair competition.
EGMF stressed that European associations should nominate relevant experts to be part of the Task Force on a permanent basis, and provided some examples of joint activities that were carried out in the framework of Prosafe joint actions and which EGMF was actively involved in.
