Joint Industry Statement on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation
EGMF and over 100 other associations express concerns regarding the fragmentation of the European Single Market in the upcoming Packaging and Packing Waste Regulation (PPWR), urging Member States to avoid the introduction of new and unique information and labelling requirements and restrictions.
Packaging and packaged goods need to move freely across the EU and we call on the the Council of the EU to follow the European Parliament’s steps towards eliminating the arbitrary national barriers, which our industries have been increasingly facing in the recent years. Their legitimisation in the PPWR has the risk to outweigh the environmental benefits of the new legislation and seriously jeopardise the whole supply chain.
